As an independent contractor, you might contract your technical writing skills to high-tech companies for three to six months at a time, and do most of your work on your home computer. As a consultant, you might work as a project manager out of your house, matching clients with vendors to complete printing projects like marketing brochures. In any of these cases, you'll likely have to get out of the house to meet with your editors, clients or vendors. You'll also likely need to network and seek new clients to grow your business. F. How To make real money from Home?: How many more countdown clocks do we have to see, telling us that if we don't act by the time the clock runs down we won't be able to take advantage of some incredible offer.

And how many times can people still use that software script that inserts a date in a sales letter. When you read the letter it tells you that if you don't buy today the offer may be gone by the deadline date. The next day you find that the deadline date has automatically been changed to today's date - and on and on.

How many times do we have to be offered a product only to find that in order to read the sales letter we have to give up our name, email address and other confidential information.

The marketers say that these strategies are annoying but they work. Seems that so many of these people will happily prostitute themselves all for the almighty buck. If it works, do it. Don't worry about people's concerns, their preferences, their desires. Simply force the consumer to do what you want him or her to do and then claim your method "works". The sad thing is that the vast majority of people are simply sheep, so they follow the leader. Then they claim that the annoying tactic "works" whether or not it does.

Just this week I was asked to write a testimonial for a marketer. He told me what he wanted me to say. Now, in and of itself, that's not bad. I'm constantly asked to review things, give people testimonials, etc. So much of my time would be taken up creating these things I'd have little time to do anything else. So if the person writes the testimonial and asks me to edit it, I'm fine with that. It's saved me a lot of time.

But this clown sent me what was clearly a bunch of lies. When I called him on it, he said they weren't lies, they were "good marketing".

I pulled the plug on that relationship.

Just today I got an email telling me that I should download an incredibly important and valuable report. I was chastised to "do it immediately" because he didn't know how long he would be able to make the report available.

Oh please. That in itself would be a clear reason for me not to purchase this guy's product. If he lies right up front, it won't get better.

I love tantalizing bullet points in sales letters as much as anyone. But stop with the extreme exaggeration and outright lies.

Now, as always, this rant ties right into publicity. I'm becoming more and more distressed by the exaggerations people are putting into their press releases. I can't count the number of times I've told you that there is no reason whatsoever to exaggerate in your press releases or your media interviews. You have plenty of solid information the media people want without resorting to exaggeration - or far worse, lies.

Simply tell people what you know about your product, service, business or practice. 

Right now I'm working on my gardens. I'm no expert on landscaping, planting, etc. If I heard an interview on radio or TV or read it in my local newspaper with someone who does know about landscaping and planting, I'd be hooked. If that person was having a seminar, I'd pay to go. If they had a book, I'd buy it.

If you sell insurance, send out a press release telling people how to choose a deductible for their policy.

If you're a dentist, tell people the truth about those inexpensive tooth whitening kits - and don't simply tell them they're bad because you want them to come to you for a more expensive whitening. If these kits are harmful, let them know why. If they're not harmful, let them know that too. People will love you for telling them the truth and not simply making a sales pitch.

If you're an auto mechanic, tell people how to prevent summertime breakdowns.

If you own a website (and who doesn't?) tell people solid infor- mation about your product. Don't just make a sales pitch, give them solid information they'll be able to use.

If you're in real estate, tell people about the three easy improvements they can make that will increase the value of their homes.

If you're a travel agent, tell people how to get their cabins upgraded for free.

I personally know all of the marketing guys who are making these exaggerations and who are leading you to believe you can get rich with little effort if you just follow their system. Then when you fail, they are still laughing on their way to the bank and you're left with a feeling of failure. Angry that you got taken again.

You share the blame for this nonsense. You knew that instant riches are simply a foolish dream. But you bought into it anyway. Then you tried to blame the guy who sold you his system.

Come on!

One last thing - if you ever catch me making any of those extreme exaggerations (you know the kind I mean) - would you send me an email saying: "Hey windbag, cut back on the hype and get back to the truth."

After all, many of us dislike our jobs because of dealing with incompetents, mean and petty people and management. Perhaps we also dislike what we receive for doing those jobs even less. Some of us also have difficulty dealing with our superiors, who may or may not be good people who were improperly chosen to lead others. Given all these factors, working at home, in the peace and comfort of your own abode, seems like an incredibly good idea. 

You too have surely thought about working at home, and you must first consider all the variables that will be involved in your potential decision and even allow for the unknown. Working at home, like working outside, carries its own set of advantages and disadvantages. It would be good for you to scrutinize each argument, pro and con, and examine how much weight such arguments should have on your decision.

If your business takes off, then you have an opportunity to earn more money in a year than you otherwise would've gotten throughout your entire lifetime, had you stuck with your regular boring job. 

Being able to choose your own associations. Not being stuck in an office, with no windows, means that you won't have to put up with people that you can't stand. Instead, you can choose who you want to do business with, and ignore those who aren't as relevant. 

Working at home is not a financial cure-all but, even in the toughest of circumstances, it is a mighty fine start. In fact, you can expect to have a rough time, especially at the beginning. However, as long as you stay disciplined and do the work that you have to do, write down all your goals and review them everyday, then implement the steps to get to them, you can expect your venture to grow, and your profits to grow as well.

H. How to prevent you from being cheated in home business: If you buy some stuff from a shop or mall in your city and are not satisfied with its quality, you can promptly go back to the shopkeeper and register your grievance easily. But have you ever been scammed by any website or online offer? Those who have wasted money on online offers on internet understand the pain of being cheated and not being able to get their money back. They also start believing erroneously that online transactions mostly are risky. 

This article arms you with rock solid information to save you from such situations. And this is especially for those who want to make money online. Anybody who wants to make a living from internet must scrutinize the 'make-money-online-websites' keeping in mind the following points.

1. Associations Websites and companies which run their affiliate programs through clickbank.com and cj.com are generally reliable. Clickbank for example directs its merchants to refund the money to the buyer if he or she is not satisfied. If you are not satisfied with the credit card manager of the website in question, don't buy! 

2. Look for 'how it works' If the website gives you detailed information as to 'how' their system or software works, that generates reliability. Some sites on the other hand use suspense to create curiosity and do not reveal how their system works and they exaggerate the quality and features of their product, but that strategy may be fraught with scam.

3. Read FAQ Good websites have a detailed FAQ section. Always read it before buying. Many revelations are buried deep in the FAQ pages. For instance, on a 'paid surveys' website FAQ page you may find that it is not that useful for your country if you live outside USA. 

4. Testimonials Testimonials may or may not be real. Believe only if you see some big and reliable names of that niche and/or if email address or web address of the person giving testimonial is also included. 

5. Proofs- Click bank account images Many sites show images of their Click bank affiliate account to show how much money they are minting. While the images may be real the income shown may be from a system other than what is claimed by the webmaster. You can not verify it. 

6. Countdown timer and time limited prices You must have seen those countdown timers and those 'buy before this Tuesday' offers. You go to the same site after the expired time or date and you will find the same timer ticking and the offer extended to another Tuesday. That exposes what those webmasters think you are. 

7. Don't fall for free stuff and bonuses Keep your focus on the product which you are looking for and not for the bonuses, or you might end up with a compromised product just because you were blinded by the lure of free stuff.

8. Go and find in a forum It always pays to read some unbiased testimonials in a forum. Just type the name of the product followed by 'forum' in Google search box and you will get all the opinions of those who have used that software or system. An added advantage is that you get comparisons with other similar software or systems.

9. Customer Support Good websites have high-quality customer support and promptly reply to your emails before and after purchasing the product. The tricksters will not reply especially if you ask for a refund.

10. Listen to your conscience After analyzing the points described above, incubate everything in your mind and forget about it at least for a day. Human brain does wonders at subconscious level. Thereafter listen to your inner voice and decide whether or not to buy the product.

So next time you see a site asking you to buy their product, use these x-ray techniques to see what you will really get if you buy. Uncovering their malicious intention is not difficult.
